About Basket NZ
Basket NZ is a free grocery price comparison tool built specifically for New Zealand shoppers. We help you find the cheapest prices across Woolworths, Pak'nSave and New World so you can make smarter shopping decisions every week.
Why We Built Basket NZ
Grocery prices in New Zealand have risen significantly over recent years. With three major supermarket chains — and often very different prices for the same products — it can be hard to know where to shop. Basket NZ was created to solve that problem.
Instead of visiting three different websites or apps, you can search once and instantly see prices from all three supermarkets side by side. We do the legwork so you don't have to.
How It Works
Our system collects price data directly from Woolworths, Pak'nSave and New World on a regular basis. Here's how Basket NZ works:
- Set your location — We find the nearest Woolworths, Pak'nSave and New World stores to you, so you're seeing accurate local prices rather than national averages.
- Search or browse — Search for any product by name, or browse by category (Fruit & Veg, Meat, Fridge & Dairy, Pantry, and more).
- Compare prices — See the price at each supermarket side by side, with the cheapest option highlighted. Special and sale prices are shown clearly.
- Save favourites — Create a free account to save your favourite products and get a weekly summary of price drops and specials.
- Today's Best Deals — Browse the biggest savings and current specials at your local stores, ranked by discount depth.

How We Keep Prices Accurate
Prices are updated regularly from each supermarket's website. Because prices can change daily — especially for produce, meat and specials — we recommend checking in store for the very latest price before purchase. Our data typically reflects prices within a few days of the latest scrape.
We show both the regular shelf price and any current sale or member prices, so you can see exactly what you'd pay at the checkout.
Free to Use
Basket NZ is completely free to use. You can browse products and compare prices without creating an account. Sign up (free) to save favourite products, get weekly price-drop alerts, and join the Basket NZ community.
Community
Our Community feature lets NZ shoppers share grocery finds with each other — spotted a great deal, a new product, or a surprisingly cheap item? Share it with photos and other shoppers can like and comment. Earn Basket Points for sharing and engaging with the community.
Shopping Guides
We also publish practical guides to help New Zealand shoppers save more money at the supermarket. Topics include how to compare prices effectively, understanding unit pricing, finding the best weekly specials, and budget meal planning for NZ families.
